Sounds of Summer

I walked into a bustling kitchen yesterday.

My son was in charge, setting timers, checking flames, breading meat. His buddy even loaded the dishwasher.

It was a parents’ dream.

We grabbed two extra chairs and enjoyed a sitdown meal with family and friends.

The chicken parm was superb, the experience better.

Afterward, as the missus and I cleaned house, the kids did kid stuff.

They played video games, ate ice cream sundaes and watched movies.

We overheard their riotous laughter and smiled.

It was old-timey fun.

Summer is here.
