Typically, the best thing about Hump Day is getting over it.
But this Wednesday was different.
In my mailbox at work was a thank-you note from a young woman our newspaper had spotlighted in a recent edition. The missive was handwritten and heartfelt, and the sentiments registered with the recipient.
Picking up supplies for an upcoming flight, I later dropped by a department store, asking the older lady behind the counter if she had an atomizer.
Stooping over and opening about a half dozen compartment doors, she then placed 17 samples of designer cologne into a bag.
“How much do I owe you?” I said.
“Nothing,” she said. “And here’s some Acqua di Gio aftershave lotion.”
One day. Two women. Two good deeds.
ISIS. Global warming. Who’s going into which bathroom? This obnoxious presidential campaign.
I didn’t care a whit about any of it today.
That is because of a pair of hard-working women who were reared right and are paying it forward.
